Handheld Underground ROM dumps

Game Boy Advance · taizou

Handheld Underground (hhug) is a project by taizou with a mission to help preserve obscure, mostly bootleg and unlicensed games for handheld consoles. This is a (hopefully up-to-date) repository of all ROM files posted at the hhug website, plus all the public versions of their Game Boy/Color emulator, hhugboy, and other related tools. While they do maintain an easy list of all of their dumps , the Game Boy and Game Boy Color ROMs are listed together and the page isn’t always up to date – plus, it’s always good to have another mirror just in case. This archive also groups together title screen hacks, translations and alternate dumps with different spelling under the same subfolders, which are named after either the English version (if available) or the best version (if all are in Chinese). It also includes the small handful of dumps released by taizou on his personal blog prior to the foundation of Handheld Underground. Please note that Dragon Ball Z 3 2002 Fighting (Unl) is a Game Boy Color game despite its dumps’ file extension being .gb. Also worthy of note is that the romanization of Chinese follows two different standards: dumps shared prior to September 2020 uses spaces between words, while dumps shared September 2020 onwards uses spaces between syllables regardless of word boundaries. Because of that, some games that had revisions dumped both before and after that month have dumps with slightly different titles that won’t appear together when sorted alphabetically. GBXBuilder is a graphical tool to create, modify and remove GBX footers. It was created by me, rari_teh, and has no affiliation whatsoever with taizou or Handheld Underground. It requires the Visual Basic 6.0 Runtime to work; because of that, the library is also included in this archive. Last update: October 5 th , 2025. As of this writing, the official dumps page is missing the following games: Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (Unl) (Eng) [C] Lu Ke Ying Xiong Chuan 3 (Unl) (Chn) [C] If this item is lagging behind too much or if you spot any errors or omissions, please send a DM on Twitter to @rari_teh or shoot a message on the Fediverse to @rari_teh@misskey.social. This archive is neither maintained by nor affiliated with taizou.
