In the meantime, please avail yourself to this version, using the Archive's DOSBox. Mirror Magic is a DOS conversion of a 1989 Amiga puzzle game created by Holger Schemel and published by Artsoft Entertainment. To spare myself the burden of rewriting the description of the game, here is an abridged version below. Mirror Magic is a clone of two games, Deflektor and the improved and much more challenging Mindbender , both published by Gremlin Graphics Software, with the latter being essentially the spiritual successor to the former and also serving as the graphical basis for this game (surprisingly, although the graphics are at least upscaled). In Mirror Magic , depending on which level set is played, a laser beam or spell is continuously cast, and the player must rotate mirrors to direct the beam toward gray spheres or cauldrons before reflecting it to the goal, which takes the form of either a receptacle or a door. In the case of the Mindbender levels, there are typically other objectives necessary for solving a level, such as having all light bulbs activated or collecting keys. Anywise, fuel or magic is consumed, so the player must complete their objectives within a time limit before they must restart. Additionally, the laser emitter or wizard can only absorb heat from the beam shining back at it for short periods, so the source must not be overloaded. A level editor is also included, and as a bonus for being a clone of two titles, the game allows the player to design levels with elements from both. Specific to this DOS port of Mirror Magic , running at version 2.0.2 as the latest, This game was downloaded from Artsoft Entertainment's website .
