This is the playable version of Optic War The Laser Chess Game NOTE: if the game and music is stuttering, try a different browser. I found that Firefox runs slower for me but the game runs fine when played through Chrome. If you want the original files, disk images, scanned images of the box manual and disks; click HERE Overview Optic War is a one- or two-player game of logic and strategy played on a 9 x 9 board of squares. Optic War is a chess-like game with a 21st Century twist. Players may choose to play the game against a friend of against "Victor," the wise-cracking cyborg opponent built into the game. Victor is a relentless Optic War player! Objective The goal of play is to destroy your opponent's Power Source, which provides power to all your warring pieces. This can be accomplished in one of three ways: By capturing it with a "Block Mirror" By Shooting it with the "Cannon Launcher" By zapping it with an optical beam from your "Laser." The Playing Pieces You and your opponent are equipped with a battery of futuristic pieces: Angled Reflecting Mirrors (45º), used for creating reflective bank shots (4 units) Prisms or "Beam Benders," useful for diverting beams to odd angles (2 units) Block Mirrors which return enemy fire to their source (4 units) Dual-sided Mirrors (45º), used in advanced defensive strategy (3 units) Color Filter, for creating "one-way" shots (1 units) Beam Splitter, great for doubling your fire power (1 unit) Galactic Cannon, which fires awesome steel pellets, even over obstacles (1 unit) In addition, the center of the board harbors a "Black Hole" which absorbs laser beams and randomly teleports any playing pieces that dares to enter.
