1993 · MS-DOS · Nethack Development Team

This is Nethack 3.1.3 by Mike Stephenson, Izchak Miller,Janet Walz, Ken Arromdee, David Cohrs, Jean-Christopher Collet, Kevin Darcy, Matt Day, Timo Hakulinen, Steve Linhart, Dean Luick, Pat Rankin, Eric Raymond, Eric Smith, Norm Maluch, Kevin Smolkowski, Carl Schelin, Stephen Spackman, Steve VanDevender, and Paul Winner as presented in chapter 2 of the Fatal Distractions CD. Nethack 3.1.3 is a big update from 3.0, changing a lot of things about the game. The game has been tightened up much more, and the experience you'll have depends a lot on your character class and even gender. From the section on Nethack in Fatal Distractions: "In this latest (but probably not final) version of Nethack, great care has been taken to create a consistent mythology throughout the dungeons. Everything interacts with everything now to a much greater degree than ever before, and you cannot win the game without knowing how to take advantage of these interactions. Even the colors of the creatures are important clues." There's a level modeled off of the Rogue level style, and more set piece levels where you need to need to solve problems, usually by having the right item for the spell required. The default options this copy is using are: OPTIONS=rawio,IBM_BIOS,IBMgraphics OPTIONS=time,rest_on_space,nopickup,number_pad This particular version, 3.1.3.2 is for 286 machines.
