KIDKEYS

1992 · MS-DOS · Ed DeJesus

KidKeys, by Ed DeJesus, is a simple children's program to allow young children to interact with a computer, by displaying symbols depending on the key hit. It consists of three executables: KIDKEY1 shows a single character, KIDKEY2 shows a row of ten characters, and KIDKEY3 shows three rows of ten characters. Characters are not just the standard letter and number keys; the function keys and CTRL combinations will display box-drawing symbols and other unusual characters. This game made it difficult to exit by requiring CTRL-Break, thus making it safe to leave the computer alone with a young child. This does not work in DOSBox. I've set the emulator here to run KIDKEY3, but I don't think there's any way to leave the program to try the others. Downloaded, and running DOSBox natively, you can use CTRL-Scroll Lock. Game was taken from the Game Empire Shareware CD. Date comes from file date.
