The Dreamcast has just received a new hack which is none other than "Ayrton Senna - Racing Legends". One of the most anticipated mods in the Dreamcast scene, this project is sure to thrill fans and involved a great deal of reverse engineering to create! 👨‍💻 WHO IS BEHIND THE PROJECT? This modification was created by Ricardo Ravi, known for his work with dubbed and subtitled games on the Dreamcast Nostalgia Channel. If you're a fan of the console, you've probably already played a game in Brazilian Portuguese made by him. Among his previous projects, he even created a modified soccer game. In this project, Ricardo partnered with João Roberto from Fire Studios, another prominent name in the scene. He is responsible for projects such as: Tony Hawk's Brazukas Pro, featuring Brazilian skaters, Sonic Adventure subtitles, and a revamped Mortal Kombat Gold. ⏱️ MOD DEVELOPMENT TIME AND BASE This mod started being developed approximately 6 months ago and was based on the game "F1 Racing Championship". The game features: 6 new cars, 12 new drivers. Two historic drivers were chosen for each team, regardless of the year. In other words: only overpowered duos! 🏎️ TEAMS AND DRIVERS 🔹 Mercedes Car: W13 Drivers: Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg 🔹 Ferrari Car: F2002 Drivers: Rubens Barrichello and Michael Schumacher 🔹 McLaren Carro: MP4/8 Drivers: Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost 🔹 Red Bull Car: RB16B Pilots: Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel 🔹 Lotus Car: 94T Drivers: Nigel Mansell and Emerson Fittipaldi 🔹 Williams Car: FW11B Drivers: Damon Hill and Nelson Piquet Not enough? 😎 🛠️ TOTAL REVERSE ENGINEERING There are no ready-made modding tools for this game; it's the same for practically 90% of Dreamcast games. Everything was done through reverse engineering, led by Ricardo Ravi (Dreamcast Nostalgia), who had to create his own editing tools so that the mod could be completed. Modifying the Dreamcast is extremely difficult 🔥 The files are usually compressed, sealed, and often impossible to open, which is why it's more common to see people creating games from scratch than modifying an existing one. It took Ricardo Ravi and João Roberto 6 months of hard work to: Extract textures, Apply reflections to the cars, Adjust models and visual details. Even so, some cars still have limitations in reflexes — which shows how complex this process was. 👉 Important: Of the cars in the game, only Ayrton Senna's had adjustable speed. All others retain the game's original settings.
