KansasFest 2024 - Hackfest - The Great Garage Giveaway - Revised 2024 07 19
simulation · Apple II · Kevin Powers
This is a KansasFest 2024 HackFest entry by Kevin Powers. The author wrote this program in AppleSoft BASIC as part of the KansasFest "HackFest" competition, in which an attendee may write an Apple II program from scratch entirely during the week of KansasFest. This program is a text-based simulation of the Great Garage Giveaway at KansasFest, which is an actual giveaway of Apple II computers, peripherals, software, books, and other stuff on the morning of the first full day of KansasFest. This program reflects about one day's work, although the author did lose a few hours to sleep. The program contains several Easter Eggs and at least one bug. The author hopes to release a future update fixing the bug, adding randomized item placement, increasing the number of potential items, and accounting for relative rarity of items. The version on this disk image is the version from HackFest. Many thanks to Richard Thompson for demonstrating the program on the final full day of KansasFest.
