SPACE DEFENDER is a free homebrew game written in Commodore 64 BASIC. Inspired by classic arcade space shooters, the game features a player-controlled spaceship, a single row of moving aliens, sound effects using the SID chip, and a complete title screen, HUD, and end-game sequences. Controls: Z = move left, X = move right, SPACE = fire. This program is provided for educational, historical, and preservation purposes. It is distributed freely and without expiration. Tested on VICE emulator and real Commodore 64 compatible systems.
