Dust: Off-Road Racing , unofficially ported by yours truly for Windows , Linux , and MacOS . This is a simple mobile game made by Catmoon Productions all the way back in 2014. Decided to port it on PC since it is fun to play despite it's nature as a mobile game. The game hasn't been modified further than converting all of it's .pvr textures into .dds , so that the textures can be displayed properly on all 3 PC platforms. Minimum System Requirements: Windows Version: XP and up; Linux Kernel: every distro that has been released from 2013 onwards; MacOS Version: MacOS X and up; RAM: 1GB; GPU: Every Intel/AMD iGPU should suffice, but it also runs on dGPUs aswell. Runs amazing with the open-source NVIDIA (nouveau) drivers; Free Space on disk: 300MBs; Known Issues: Can't farm coins in any way, therefore you can't unlock everything in the game; Has missing gamepad mapping; Besides these two issues, the game works perfectly fine without showcasing any outlandish bugs. How to Install: Download the DustOffRoadRacing.zip file; Once downloaded, unpack it on whichever folder you like and keep the dust.smf file in a spot you can easily reach; Cut the Resources folder; If you are on Windows , open your file explorer and go to C:\%AppData%/Roaming , then create the following folder path: Stonetrip\Player\4ee121e9\ . Once done, get into all of those folders and paste the Resources folder in it; If you are on Linux , create in your home a folder named .StoneTrip , then paste the Resources folder in it; Launching the game: Go to the S3DMain Players folder and pick the folder for your platform (and architecture, if you're using a Linux distro); If you picked Windows , copy all of the files from the Windows folder and paste them where the dust.smf file is at; If you picked 64-bit Linux , copy the S3DEngine_Linux_x86_64.bin file and paste it on where you had placed the dust.smf file; If you picked 32-bit Linux , copy the S3DEngine_Linux_x86_32.bin file and paste it where you had placed the dust.smf file; To play the game, open a terminal in the same folder you had pasted the standalone S3DPlayer; If you're on Windows , type: S3DEngine_Windows.exe dust.smf ; If you're on Linux , type: chmod +x ./S3DEngine_Linux_x86_64.bin or chmod +x ./S3DEngine_Linux_x86_32.bin , then ./S3DEngine_Linux_x86_64.bin dust.smf or ./S3DEngine_Linux_x86_32.bin dust.smf ; Gamepad Layouts: If you want to play the game with a gamepad and have installed software like QJoyPad (on Linux) or AntiMicroX (on Windows) on your machine, the Gamepad Layouts folder contains a couple of layout files that you can import on their respective programs ( .lyt for QjoyPad and .amgp for AntiMicroX) to give the game unofficial gamepad support. In order to use these template files, just do these steps: Download the layout file from the archive; Connect a gamepad to your PC/Laptop; Open QJoyPad/AntiMicroX; Import the layout file (both have a dedicated Import button to click on in their UI); Launch the game (see Launching the game or Startup Scripts on how); Enjoy! Startup Scripts: If you feel annoyed of having to open the terminal every and each time just to launch the game, there is a folder named Startup Scripts that contains some handy shell scripts that can make the process lesser trivial to do. To use them, just follow these steps: Go to the Startup Scripts folder from the archive, pick the folder for your platform, then download the run.sh / run.bat script; Once downloaded, cut the run.sh / run.bat file; Paste it in the same folder you had extracted and moved the dust.smf file into; If you're on Windows , simply double-click on the run.bat script to start the game; If you're on Linux , open a terminal and write the following commands: chmod +x ./run.sh , then ./run.sh ; If you want to run the game with different graphical settings, each folder presents 2 extra scripts: runHiGfx and runLowGfx . runHiGfx basically runs the game by toggling more graphical-demanding features that come with S3DEngine, while runLowGfx is ideal for weaker/older devices. Modifying the game: If you'd like to create game mods, you can freely edit every single file that is contained into the game's Resources folder. From that folder you can edit stuff like: Textures; Sounds and Music; Scripts; Almost each and every file can be freely edited and substituted with stuff like image manipulation (like GIMP, Paint.Net, or online services like PhotoPea) and audio editing programs- as for the scripts, feel free to read out my documentation on how to mod ShiVa Engine games. If you'd like to create derivative works out of this unofficial PC port, you totally could!
