========================================================== Prepar3D v3 Academic - Installation Guide (Windows 10/11) ========================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This guide fixes the common DirectX error (0xfffffff7) when installing Prepar3D v3 on modern Windows. Why it fails The old DirectX redistributable bundled with v3 often fails on Windows 10/11. The official Setup_Prepar3D.exe gets stuck at the DirectX step. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- + Step 1 : Preparation (Very Important) Search for "UAC" in Windows Search. Drag the slider all the way down to "Never notify" and click OK. Restart your PC. Temporarily disable Windows Defender (real-time protection) and any other antivirus. Make sure you have at least 35-40GB free space on the drive where you will install (the installer extracts a lot of large scenery files). + Step 2 : Run the Installer with Compatibility Go to your Prepar3D v3 download folder. Right-click on Setup_Prepar3D.exe and choose Properties. Go to the Compatibility tab: Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select Windows 7 Check "Run this program as an administrator" Click Apply then OK. Right-click Setup_Prepar3D.exe again and choose Run as administrator. The installation will take a long time (especially when extracting scenery .cab files) and will heavily use your disk.
