Terep 2 (a.k.a. Deformers, plus 1)

1997 · simulation · MS-DOS · Dénes Nagymáthé

Hello, I am FreeMediaKids!. As I continued contributing to Wikipedia, I looked at an article about another computer game from my youth and read something I have not heard of before, called Terep 2 . Literally roughly meaning "Terrain 2" and known in English as Deformers , it is a simulation game that apparently Hungarian computer game media was relatively well aware of at the time, and apparently is remembered as recently as 2023 . It involves two buggies and three Broncos, one without a top. The thrill of the game comes from off-roading across terrain and watching how one's car drives over tracts of bumpy land across a single map. The games were downloaded from dosjatekok.hu, which appears to be a Hungarian DOS abandonware website. I am not hyperlinking the website due to concerns about copyright, especially with regards to software that is still sold commercially. These two games are freeware. In addition to Terep 2 , I have also included the original Terep . which is stored in the same ZIP file as the sequel. To play that, exit the application, type CD TEREP1 , and open TEREP.EXE . To return to Terep 2 , go up one directory with CD .. and open TEREP2.EXE . Consider also terep.com , a fansite covering the game in nice detail and also hosting files for tracks and cars. I made sure to archive everything about the domain. The only thing I failed to rescue are the tracks at Tracks/*** . Either these tracks are still hosted on the domain and I do not know how to locate them, or they have not migrated properly from one domain to the current and I dread that they may have been lost forever. I have already prepared myself elsewhere for another game to accept that the downloadable content of another fansite for that game is unsalvageable, so if the files at terep.com are still in an unknown part of the server or someone happens to have the missing files, please consider archiving or sharing them. I may then upload a data item on the Archive containing the contents of the domain with the missing files.
