Hello, I am FreeMediaKids!. Today, we will be looking at a company from England best known for relentlessly axing open cans upon cans of worms. That's right, we are talking about Team17, with its tireless franchise of dimwitted annelids whose philosophy is solving every world problem with violence, and in bizarre ways. That franchise is doing well even today (as long as you count Worms Armageddon ). Anyway, if you were a computer gamer in Europe in the early 1990s, you almost would have known the Amiga, and if you were a British gamer on that computer, you probably would have heard of Team17, a relatively new video game developer known then primarily for its Alien Breed games. Well, after Project-X , Team17 had a third major project in mind: Superfrog . I have to admit that, despite playing and watching a handful of its hits, I needed to research the game for this description because, even though I have heard of the title, I did not know what it was or what it was about, and here is what I found out. Superfrog is about a fictional prince who has been turned into a frog by a witch, but becomes a superhero after drinking a bottle of Lucozade, a real British energy drink. You can probably guess what happens next, but that is not important. What is important is the quality of the game compared to other Amiga platformers. Some critics consider Superfrog to be the best platform game for Amiga. Indeed, those willing to look past its superficial cuteness saw a game with gorgeous visuals and music, fluid controls, and levels packed with secrets and exploration that compensated for a clichéd story. While never achieving Mario's or Sonic's fame such that it would become Amiga's mascot, it was successful enough to give Gremlin Interactive's Zool a run for its money. The game was popular enough that it was ported to DOS—the version I am uploading. This game was downloaded from Dream17 , a fan website that has Team17's permission to distribute the files. I chose the shareware version of the game because Team17 is controlling how the files are shared and I have not obtained permission to upload the game on the Archive yet. The full game can also be downloaded from Dream17, though strangely only for Amiga. Update: I found out about an hour after this upload that Team17 put out two shareware episodes of Superfrog and distributed them separately. The one I downloaded from Dream17 is Episode II. I downloaded the first episode from DOS Games Archives and put the other into its own folder within a ZIP file. By default, the emulator points to the first episode. To switch to the second episode, quit to DOS mode, then type CD EPISODE2 , and run SF.EXE . To switch back to the first episode, go up one directory with CD .. , and run SF.EXE .
