Saruman's armies are broken, but the most terrifying enemy of the free peoples of Middle-earth continues to grow in strength, his host is about to fall upon Gondor — the last refuge of men. Frodo and Sam have nearly reached their goal, but between them and the Mount of Doom stands a vast horde of orcs. The fate of Middle-earth will be decided here, beneath the walls of Minas Tirith, if the city falls, hope will be lost. Aragorn, the last of the nearly extinct line of the Númenórean kings, rises to lead the host of men, challenging the Dark Lord, for only in this way can Frodo and Sam reach the Mount of Doom.
