Cosmic Voyage 1936

1936 · Aleksandr Filimonov, Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, Vasili Zhuravlov, Mosfilm

This is such a rare movie that I could not believe that it wasn't already loaded to The Archive, at least not that I could find. Well, now that is corrected, and this rare movie with stunning special effects will be preserved. This is the 1936 Silent Russian movie Cosmic Voyage. When I first saw this I though it was some sort of retro (no rocket ship pun intended) movie from a later time because the special effects were so good, but it appears to be genuine. I don't know if a dubbed version has ever been done but I know there is one with subtitles, but this has neither. If you don't speak Russian then you will just have to enjoy it for it's stunning visuals and fairly realistic portrayal of space travel. The creation date was a WAG, the only info I could find was January 1936.
