1996 · MS-DOS · Arcade ·

---------------------- Here is a domestic arcade game created by Sergey Golik with the help of Igor Oleynik. The original version was released on MSX computers (or "Yamaha"), but very little is known about this release, so the most common is the DOS variation. The gameplay is a hybrid of Digger and Snake. The goal of the game is to mow all the grass on the field. The fewer steps you spend on this, the higher your place in the leaderboard. There are three randomly generated levels in the game. Their passage is complicated by a limited supply of fuel, which must be replenished with barrels of gasoline. Sometimes they can disappear right in front of the player and tease him in another corner of the screen. Moving on unmown grass uses one liter, on mown - two. There are also boulders on the field, a collision with which breaks the mower. The level is fenced by giant strawberries, no different from stones (although it is more offensive for a berry grown independently). The graphics look simple (EGA 640x480), but that's all you need from a game of this genre. The sound is reproduced only by the PC Speaker, and at the beginning of the stage, the overture "1812" by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky plays, which, you must admit, is nice. The only thing that "glitches" in Mower is the balance. The probability of completing the game depends on the fields themselves (or rather, the number of boulders on them) and on luck in terms of fuel barrels. Sometimes you can reach three hundred to four hundred liters and mow the grass without fear, but in some cases there will be a clear lack of saving barrels. However, even despite this drawback, the game has not lost its relevance, and its improved version would serve as an excellent time-killer on the phone.
