Windows 95 CD-ROM OEM Version A Part No. 000-27722 Dated 1995 ISO Image Not bootable. This is my official Windows 95 CD-ROM ISO image. This CD contains Windows 95 OEM version A . It doesn't include any of the OSR updates. The disc is NOT bootable. You will need a Windows 95 boot floppy disk, or another bootable CD, such as the Windows 98 CD-ROM. A fix is also required for CPUs above a certain clock speed. As mentioned below, Windows 95 - especially older versions - doesn't like stuff newer than it. Older is better here. I've found that computers with "Designed for Windows 9X" stickers on the case generally work fine with Windows 95, even if it is slightly newer hardware. This version also does NOT have FAT32 support! You will need to format your hard disk(s) as FAT16 for Windows 95 to recognise it. (FAT32 partitions usually error out with a "disk compression" error.) System Requirements This operating system will NOT run on modern hardware. Period-correct hardware is about the only thing Windows 95 will be happy with. The official system requirements published by Microsoft at the time are: Personal computer with a 386DX or better processor (486 is recommended) 4 MB of memory (8 MB is recommended) Hard disk space: 35 to 40 MB (to upgrade). This varies based on which features you select to install. Hard disk space required to install Windows 95 on a clean system: 50-55 MB. Can vary based on which features are selected for installation. 1 x 3.5 inch high-density floppy disk drive Video: VGA or higher resolution (recommended: 256-color SVGA) Dell Dimension V400c Here are the specs of the system I have Windows 95 installed on. This might be useful for gauging recommended specs.
