Debianissimo 1.0 ISO (Ordissimo V4)

operating-system · Linux · Debianissimo

Debianissimo is a Linux distribution for seniors based on Debian. It integrates the Ordissimo public repositories and can normally be installed on all types of computers. It is multilingual (English, French, German, Italian, etc.). The interface is identical to that of Ordissimo V4. Installation requires an internet connection via an Ethernet cable. Message from one of the developers. Dear friends, good evening! Yes, the day has finally arrived. After 3 years, a new ISO is finally available to make installing Debianissimo much easier! Did you expect this? The new installer is, once again, based on Debian-Installer and modified to install Ordissimo packages. But this time, the changes have been made cleaner, more organized, and much, MUCH more stable (at least we hope)! What's changed: - COMPLETELY open-source (except for proprietary Ordissimo packages) - Debianissimo can also be installed on specific Ordissimo models - Debianissimo can now be installed on a single partition (or split as desired) - You can now choose your username, password, and hostname during installation - Goodbye LILO: GRUB is finally available! - The ISO image also contains a 32-bit version for installing older versions of the system - No more proprietary keyboard layouts: you can now choose one during installation! Some of you may be wondering, "Why did you decide to bring Debianissimo back? Wasn't it just a useless thing, a meme?" Well, yes, it was a meme at first. I started in 2021, at 14, and I was really curious: I wanted to know how it all worked. But in a year, the project grew, and quite a bit. In the four years since its creation, I've met people, both online and in person, who already knew about the project and who complimented me. Even though it was a small project, limited to a small community at the time, for me it was huge; and honestly, I didn't like seeing the project in this state of discontinuity. So, I truly thank everyone who was there during the first Debianissimo. Note: - The 32-bit installer runs a Linux 3.x kernel for compatibility with older versions of ext4 (otherwise the system would not boot). - Older versions of the system (i.e., all 32-bit versions) appear to only work on Ordissimo hardware; operation in VMs/other devices is not guaranteed. - Applications on the home screen may appear after a reboot. - To gain access to the terminal, you must install the apt packages ordissimo-dev and ordissimodev.
