Ubuntu 4.10 Warty Warthog x86 Installer Disc Image File
2004 · operating-system · development · Linux · Canonical
This is the official Canonical Ubuntu 4.10 installer disc (NOT LIVE DISC) ripped straight from an official Canonical Ubuntu ShipIt free CD. I am hoping to rip the live disc and put it on the Internet Archive. btw this is the 32 BIT VERSION and works on almost every computer (both 32-bit CPUs and 64-bit CPUs). Features of Ubuntu 4.10 PROS Uses GNOME 2 as Desktop Environment Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) Easy to use PowerPC, Intel and AMD CPU support Very Lightweight CONS Outdated in 2024/2025 I would reccommend using it in a VM or on an Old PC that you dont really use Kinda useless in 2024/2025 (other than showcasing it) doesnt work with modern hardware (why would you do that?) SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS 400Mhz Intel/AMD CPU (Separate version for PowerPC) 64MB RAM 1.5GB Disk Space Works on IDE only (doesnt work on SATA SSDs or HDDs) THINGS TO NOTE If you r installing this in VirtualBox, there may be an error in the installer saying that "There was no detected storage volume to partition disks" or somethin like that. To solve this issue, first Power Off the VM, then right click the VM that you want to install Ubuntu 4.10 on, then choose "settings", then click on "Storage" then right click the button labelled "Controller: SATA" and click on "Remove attachment". Don't worry, I'm not breakin your Virtual Hard Disk. Now, go the button labelled "Controller: IDE" and click on the Hard Drive icon with a plus (don't get confused with the CD button as that adds a new Virtual CD Drive.) and follow the on-screen instructions and make sure that your hard disk 8GB or above. Click "OK" and start your Ubuntu 4.10 virtual machine and now the installation should go smoothly
