SimpleOS is a minimalist, Debian-based Linux distribution designed for speed, simplicity, low resource consumption, and direct control over the computing environment. Built around the SimpleSuite collection of lightweight applications and the SimpleWM Wayland compositor, SimpleOS emphasizes a traditional Unix philosophy: small programs, straightforward interfaces, minimal dependencies, and software that does its job without getting in the user's way. SimpleOS is particularly suited to writers, programmers, older computers, and users who prefer a quiet, efficient desktop environment over increasingly complex mainstream systems.
