BANNER.EXE BANNER.DOC Banner is a neat printing program that lets you produce Gothic-style banners on your Epson compatible printer! This program lets you print up to 78 characters at once in three to four inch high Gothic-style type. Consult BANNER.DOC before you begin. First, your printer must be able to print 132 characters per line (in either normal or in compressed modes). When you enter "BANNER" at the DOS prompt, the program screen will pop up and ask you to enter the proper code (if necessary) to compress your printer type. You should type "27" and hit , then type "XX" (where XX = the ASCII code required to compress text on your particular printer) and hit . A second line appears asking you to input your text (up to 78 numbers and letters!). See your printer manual to determine what ASCII code must be entered (on Epson compatibles, "26" did the trick in place of "XX"). You might also be able to compress the type on your printer by hitting a key or some other keystroke combination before entering the Banner program. In any case, there should be a corresponding ASCII code for whatever command you use to compress your printer (for example, corresponded to ASCII code 15 on an HP ThinkJet). Use Banner, and you'll be able to say "Happy Birthday" in a big way! Program EpShell. Hardware Epson compatible printer. Software Dos 2.0 or later. EPSHELL1.COM EPSHELL2.COM EPSHELL.DOC Epshell is a nicely done full-screen Epson compatible print control utility that lets you set printer functions. There are two handy versions of Epshell, Epshell1 and Epshell2, to better suit your individual needs. Epshell1 is a resident program which you can call up using once the program is installed in your system. The non-resident version of the same program is Epshell2. Epshell lets you set print modes (such as doublestriking and emphasizing text), page break controls, margins and tabs, symbols (for printing ASCII characters as they appear on the screen) and line spacing. The program even resets to the printer's default settings. Epshell is an easy way to make your Epson compatible printer much more versatile! This program lets you get much more functionality and capability out of your Epson compatible printer. Print out like you've never been able to do before. Program Pfix. Hardware Printer. PFIX.COM PFix forces the computer to wait indefinitely until you hit any key when a "stop sending" message is received while printing, rather than just 15 seconds, before it will drop a character. PR256.EXE PR256.DOC PR256 is a resident utility program which intercepts special characters going to the printer and prints them exactly as they appear on your screen. Once you load PR256, you can simply hit to print out what is on your screen (great for printing a page of smiley faces, let's say). Or, you can enter the ASCII codes for compressing and decompressing your printer type in the middle of a page to give you a block of condensed type in between the ASCII characters (check you printer manual for the proper codes). This can add some spice to your print out abilities. NOTE: For some unknown reason, the IBM screen character set does not normally match that of the Epson compatible standard
