Prolific put DRM in their PL2303 USB to serial adapter drivers so they won't work with counterfeit chips. All the chips are counterfeit. Every single chip I have ever seen is counterfeit. As a consumer you have no control over this, so you just get punished to no benefit, because unquestionably the counterfeiters just ship cracked drivers on little CDs that you don't have a drive for anymore. This is a 2010-era driver from Prolific's website. I downloaded it and tested it on Windows 10 x64 successfully. I also nabbed the infs it dumps in a temp folder and included those, but I can't test them, so maybe you can use those to install without the Installshield exe, maybe not. Good luck.
