PC/Computing DIRectory Magic Disk
1988 · utility · application · Nintendo Switch · MS-DOS · Michael J. Mefford · Ziff Davis
(For IBM PCs and PC compatible systems only.) The accompanying disk contains two main DIRectory Magic programs called DM.COM and DIRMAGIC.COM, and installation program called DINSTALL.COM, a manual called MANUAL, and a tiny program called PRMANUAL.COM that will print out a copy of the manual for you. The main DM.DOM and DIRMAGIC.COM programs work hand-in-hand to give you complete control over all your files and subdirectories. You can use the separately or together. DM.COM shows you a picture of your subdirectory structure, and lets you create, remove, rename, or switch directories painlessly. It tells you how many files each contains, and lets you do some fancy tricks like hiding sensitive subdirectories from prying eyes. DIRMAGIC.COM makes it a snap to sort your files and way you'd like and then copy, delete, rename, or move them either one at a time or in groups. It will also let you view the contents of any file, search for misplaced files, find specific words in files, and much, much more. It's even smart enough to prevent you from writing over newer files with older versions. (Note that DM.COM is designed to work for DOS versions 2.1 through 3.3 on “logical” hard disks no larger than 32 megabytes.)
