You select by pointing with the cursor to the menu item you've chosen and pressing the return key or the number key associated with that menu item. Each selection can start a program, run a batch file, or execute any DOS command. A selection can also have multiple steps which may include any or all of these functions. HDM features the creation and modification of menu items while the program is running, 21 screens filled with on-line help, configurable colors, time delay screen burnout protection to save your display from unnecessary wear and tear, a current date/time display, two levels of password protection for all menu items, password protection for HDM functions such as adding, deleting, moving of menu items, and even a lock function for when you leave your computer unattended! When in the HDM program, the slash key displays a single line selection menu at the top of the screen. The choices from the menu include: (H)elp, (A)dd, (C)hange, (D)elete, (M)ove, (P)age, (R)un, (E)xit, and (Q)uit. To select a choice, enter the corresponding first letter. If you select (H)elp you are presented with another menu and more screens explaining how to use the Hard Disk Menu system. (A)dd, (C)hange, (D)elete, and (M)ove allow you to alter the description and action taken by a main menu selection. (P)age lets you change the description of a page. (R)un allows you to execute any program, DOS command, or batch file from within the Hard Disk Menu program. (E)xit returns you to the DOS prompt. Enter "EXIT" to return to HDM. (Q)uit erases the top menu and puts you back in the Hard Disk Menu. You change menu pages by pressing the thru keys to go directly to the corresponding menu page, or use the and keys to scroll from page to page. Each page, plus the selections on each page, all have user definable descriptions. HDM is very user friendly and is fairly easy to customize to suit your needs. The great built-in menu item definition and on-line help features make HDM a relatively simple to use program for even the intermediate level DOS user!
