Two 4gb qcow2 images 7zipped up together to be used as a base for QEMU installs. The win98.qcow2 file has everything but video drivers. This is mostly intended to be used with hardware passthrough with a real gpu. I will not provide instructions on how to do this, you are on your own there. The win98-softgpu.qcow2 file is a clone of the first one, but configured to use the SoftGPU project. This will use your cpu to render DX, GL and Glide API calls. This is slow, but still faster than most of the PCs from the 90s. This is the settings use in Virtmanager... Import existing disk image Archetecture: x86_64 OS: Windows 98 Mem: 256mb CPU: 1 MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE "Customize configuration before install"!!! Chipset: i440fx Firmware: BIOS CPU Model: (I chose Passthrough, but change this if it doesn't boot) NIC device model: e1000 Sound Model: AC97 Video Model: VGA I would also suggest adding a IDE CDROM and a Floppy so you can play around with disk images, but that's not really needed This should give you a mostly functional windows 98 install with sound, video, mouse, network, and usb 2.0 support. Also installed some browsers with flash support. This is still just a starting point, it's a mostly clean install of win98 se. I just did the hard part of patching the os and installing drivers so that it'll run on modern cpus (patch9x and cregfix). Memory patches still have yet to be applied, so keep it under 1gb. Legal BS: This is for personal use only. Reselling ANY copy windows without proper authorization is against MS policy, and possibly even illegal. Windows 98SE is property Microsoft and hold zero responsibility for what this package may do to your computer, house, wife, etc... Don't bug them about their ancient software if something goes wrong. THIS IS AN UNOFFICIAL, FAN MADE IMAGE, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
