2006 · operating-system · driver · Windows · Hewlett-Packard

Official drivers for the HP Pavilion TX1000 for Windows Vista x86 and x64 from https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-pavilion-tx1000-notebook-pc-series/model/3185027 The utilities are multilanguage. Additionally, two videos saved from YouTube demonstrate how to disassemble the device in case you need to clean the fan exhaust or fix the GPU overheating and flexing issues that plagued HP devices from around 2006 with nVidia 6xxx GPUs. (dv9000, dv6000, tx1000 and tx2000 models). The fix for the tx1000 became known as the "penny fix". Also attached as XML is the Notebook Fan Control (https://github.com/hirschmann/nbfc - requires net Framework 4.0/4.5, works on Vista) config file. I identified register 172 (0xAC) as the one which controls the fan speed. values 5-15 set its speed (0% to 100%). However, I failed to identify how to set its EC control mode to manual mode, so the fan is spinning up and down all the time using NFC. If you figure it out, I am happy to here from you via an upload rating... I meanwhile provided a setspeed.bat as a workaround. It completely disables the EC control, so not even the BIOS can set anything and the speed remains at chosen % at all times. Do not miss a single file!
