From the Help field: TextMuncher is a text processor. I created it because I found that I sometimes needed to edit or format text in ways not easy in a word processor. TextMuncher not only cleans up raw ASCII text, but it also allows you to do such things as: change all words which begin with 'pre' to upper case, or delete any lines which contain 'http://', or set each word which immediately precedes 'Instructions:' to a given textFont, textSize, and textStyle. Capabilities: *** Operations: clean up ASCII text by taking out EOL's, replacing double en-dashes with em-dashes, smart-quoting, eliminating superfluous hyphens, etc. Also delete, replace, sort, change case, set text styles, and extract specified chunks of text to the clipboard. *** Operate on a selected block of text or on all lines/words/characters/strings which contain/don't contain/equal/begin with/end with/follow/precede a specified string, in the entire text or in any selected block of text. *** Define any combination of textFont, textSize, and textStyle as a named style, and apply it, via a pop-up list, to selected text or to all lines/words/... etc., which contain/don't contain/... etc. Like a limited version of word-processor styling, but with much more flexibility in applying styles automatically to specified pieces of text. *** Undo any of the above operations. *** Export the formatted text as an RTF file, which can be opened by most word processors. Limitations: *** Only works (for now) on text files less than 30K. *** Very slow on large searches. (That's Hypercard - powerful but slow.) *** Somewhat fussy about its operations. However, for certain procedures, it's still lots faster than doing it by hand in a word processor! DL this stack and keep it on hand. If in two months you haven't used it, then trash it. But I bet in that time you'll have come across at least one situation when you'll find it very handy...
