CP14XL245 Win98SE DRIVER PACK BY SPOTTEDTANGO Drivers included in this pack are intended for installation on the Compaq Presario 1400 model 14XL245. This pack has not been tested on other sub-models. You will require at least 2 blank CDs with a burner and a compatible FAT32 Flash drive. You may also require a Floppy disk drive and a Win98SE Boot floppy depending on your copy of Win98SE, but I recommend tracking down the CD bootable version. Order of Operations: 1. Burn a bootable or bootdisk + copy of Windows98SE. 2. Burn the USB 2.0 Drivers folder included in the pack to a "mastered disk" (You can also include additional drivers if you so choose.) :::[[[IMPORTANT NOTE]]]::: DO NOT AT ANY POINT CONNECT ANY FLASH DRIVE TO THE 14XL245 BEFORE INSTALLING USB 2.0 Drivers LATER IN GUIDE!!! 3. Insert the Bootable Copy of Windows98SE into the DVD-ROM on the 14XL245. 4. Boot via the DVD-ROM and select "Boot computer with CD support" 5. Once the prompt appears, type FDISK and hit enter 6. Use the FDISK tool to remove all partitions and format a new one. 7. Reboot the PC. 8. Boot the Win98SE Setup. 9. Proceed through the setup until you hit 98SE desktop. 10. Swap the 98SE disk for the 2nd disk containing the USB 2.0 Drivers and install. 11. Reboot the PC 12. Flash disk support should now be enabled, you can attach a drive with the driverpack. 13. Install any desired drivers and enhancements included in the pack, enjoy! :::[[[IMPORTANT NOTE]]]::: SOME DRIVER INSTALLS STILL REQUIRE USE OF THE ADD NEW HARDWARE WIZARD POINTING TO DRIVER FOLDERS, OTHERS DO NOT. SOME ALSO REQUIRE POINTING TO WIN98 CAB FILES. IF A DRIVER INSTALL FAILS, TRY POINTING TO THE DRIVER VIA ADD NEW HARDWARE WIZARD BEFORE RUNNING SETUP.EXE, OR GIVING UP.
