Mirror of https://macintoshgarden.org/games/dermudas-wolfenstein-3d-archive Dermuda's Wolfenstein 3D Archive: Version: 1.0 Release Date: 24th December 2021 This archive is an attempt to produce as complete a collection as possible of scenarios and utilities for Wolfenstein 3D for the Mac. It is the result of many years worth of work, starting from my initial searches for new material to play in the late 1990s, and continuing to the present day. The result is a very comprehensive collection of material for Wolfenstein 3D. Containing over 500MB of material, and over 1000 scenarios, it is by far the largest collection of material ever released for the engine. I have scoured high and low for this material, and found much of what was publicly released for the engine, along with much that has remained unreleased until now. I am only aware of just under 200 scenarios and utilities that I have not managed to track down. However, because there is always some ambiguity in this sort of collecting, the actual number of missing works from this archive is probably a fair bit higher than that. The material in this archive has been assembled from a wide variety of sources. I carefully searched through online software collections, CD collections from various Mac magazines, websites of Wolfenstein fans, forums and BBSs, and so on. The Internet Archive ( http://www.archive.org ) was used when necessary. It is a particularly valuable tool. I also collected a large number of scenarios through my website: 'Dermuda's Rare Scenarios Page'. This was online in the early 2000s, and accepted submissions of material both new and old, with a particular emphasis on finding material that was no longer online. In addition, I contacted as many designers as I could, starting from my initial enquiries in the late 1990s and continuing to 2021. I have received many valuable contributions from many people. Of these, the Wolfenstein designer and collector Clubey deserves particular mention. His work in collecting Wolfenstein material in the early 2000s was second to none, and was a huge source of inspiration. He was tireless in searching through online material, and contacting designers, and unearthed a really impressive collection of material as a result. Much of his collection is now unique, and would not have survived to the present day without his efforts. His work also inspired me to set up my own website, and to start focusing seriously on my own collection. I think it is fair to say that my archive would have been much poorer without Clubey's work, and might not have existed at all. Much of his former website is still available through the Internet Archive, and is still an impressive source of information about Wolfenstein 3D! Do check it out: https://web.archive.org/web/20110722121945/http://www1.linkclub.or.jp/~clubey/ . So many thanks for all the time you spent on your collection, Clubey! I hope one day you will see this archive for yourself, and see that the spirit of rare scenario collection lives on! I would also like to thank several other important contributors to this archive, including Laz Rojas, Cyber1999 of AOL, JMC of the Macintosh Garden, and serpens of the MacenWolf project ( https://www.moddb.com/mods/macenwolf ). This archive is divided into several different folders. 'Loose Scenarios' contains scenario files that either never came in their own package, of for which that package has now been lost. 'Scenario Packs' contains scenarios which come in their own package. 'Utilities' contains a variety of additional material relating to Wolfenstein 3D, including graphics, documentation, cheat engines, the excellent level editing software 'WolfEdit', the shareware release of Wolfenstein 3D, and more. It also includes Greg Ewing's source code for WolfEdit 2.0 and his slightly modified Second Encounter engine, the '4th Encounter'. A copy of ResEdit has also been included here, for convenience. The 'Contents' folder contains two databases, in a variety of formats. The 'DermudasArchive' database lists all of the scenarios in the archive, and provides information about each of them. The scenario designer is listed, if known. The scenario is listed as 'PC' (Partial Conversion) if it modifies some of the engine graphics, and 'TC' (Total Conversion) if it modifies most of the engine's graphics. Scenarios are listed as 'First Encounter' if they are designed for that engine. Other information is provided where applicable. The 'DermudasMissing' database lists scenarios which I believe were released, or close to completion, but which I have not been able to find. Large collections of scenarios and graphical material which I am aware of, but are currently missing, are also listed. Note that information and storylines for several early AOL scenarios in the 'Loose Scenarios' folder can be found in a valuable AOL log taken by Cyber1999 in the mid-1990s: 'AOL Descriptions LOG'. You can find this file in 'Cyber1999's Text Files', in 'Utilities'. Di
