COMCEL ZTE MF190 Software

2011 · operating-system · driver · macOS · Linux · ZTE

Internet Móvil COMCEL 3.5G This is a COMCEL (now Claro Colombia) flavoured version of 3G Connection Manager (or "Join Air") by ZTE for the MF190 modem. Keep in mind the ISO comes not from a software disc but from the USB modem itself, it's supposed to mount a pseudo optical drive automatically and once it's installed it tries to unmount it. P.S: I didn't JPEG the Linux screenshots, that's how they ship it. Software available in: Windows x86 (fine in x86_64) Mac OS X x86 (package is too old for High Sierra to install, works fine on Mavericks) Linux x86 (QT3, udevadm and wvdial required, installer script only checks for Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, Fedora, and Mandriva through /etc/issue) Languages Windows: English with Spanish images, and Spanish. Mac OS X: English and Spanish (Español) Linux: English, (and inaccessible Spanish (Español inaccesible), Italian (Italiano inaccessibile), Traditional Chinese (很難接觸到的中文), Simplified Chinese (很难接触到的中文)) Notes: I haven't been able to get other languages working, like, at all. /opt/Connect_Manager/Data/common-config.xml has a <selected-language> key but setting the language to anything doesn't do anything. Changing the names of the .qm files doesn't work either, I tried changing Italian.qm to English.qm but it hasn't worked. and the automatic language detection did nothing either, I changed my language to Italian yet it still opened in English. libqt3-mt on Ubuntu 10.04 worked to launch the installer. Also newer Linux kernels have the drivers pre-included, if you want to install Join Air on newer linux make sure to disable the linux module build on the shell file so the driver doesn't build. Linux x64 needs extra setup: It's completely impossible to run this natively (don't quote me on that, it's just really hard) on Ubuntu 10.04 which was the system I was testing, multiarch support was added in Ubuntu 11.04 (natty) and Debian 7.0 (wheezy) , here's what I tried: I was unable to run the program as it just kept saying -bash: ./Connect_Manager: No such file or directory even though ./Connect_Manager does exist, I searched further and by running strings on Connect_Manager I found I needed ld-linux.so.2 which is in libc6-i386 , I installed that and then it complained about ./Connect_Manager: error while loading shared libraries: libusb-0.1.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I already had libusb-0.1-4 but since this program is 32-bit I have to get the i386 libs, after installing ia32-libs (which contained 32-bit libusb) again it complained, this time it was about libqt-mt.so.3 which is in libqt3-mt ... which I already had, problem is, unlike newer Ubuntu where you can just install i386 libs or a bit older where you could just dpkg --add-architecture i386 Ubuntu 10.04 could not do that, you had to install packages like ia32-libs and hope your program had all the libs it needed, so I tried installing binutils-multiarch and gcc-multilib AND libqt3-mt-dev but none fixed it *big shocker*, then I found out dpkg 1.16.0 added multiarch support, I'm on 1.15.5.6ubuntu2, so I wondered if apt-get upgrade would fetch me a newer dpkg and thus me being able to quickly fix it. (it didn't lol). At this point I just gave up and started downloading 32-bit Ubuntu Lucid, a setup later I installed libc6, libqt3-mt and wvdial then installed Join Air and it just worked without a problem.
