Commodore 64 Disk Copier Archive - Renegade Copier Parameters

Renegade is a Commodore 64 disk copy, nibbler and utility suite published by Kracker Jax Protection Busters / Computer Mart, Vancouver WA. Created by Bob Mills and Mike Howard, based on a design by Les Lawrence, with graphical UI by Wayne Schmidt. Renegade was the original name for what later became Maverick — the name was changed following a trademark dispute with Taito America over the C64 game of the same name. Early Maverick advertising carried the note 'formerly known as Renegade, not to be confused with the game'. Renegade shipped with approximately 300 parameters covering many popular commercial titles — including Electronic Arts titles, RapidLok and GEOS disks — and also removed code wheel and manual lookup protection checks. Parameters are small routines targeting the specific protection scheme of individual titles, allowing the fast copier to deprotect them and produce a working backup. The product line continued as Maverick through to the final commercial release V5.04.
